So I just got back from seeing Nine Inch Nails in Portland, ME. My friend Sarah took me. The show was much better when I saw them last year at the Fleet Center (the Fleet Center sucks!), but still not as good as when I first saw them twelve years ago at Woodstock '94.
After the show, we went to an "after-party" that a friend of mine was running at a club across the street from the venue. I thought it was fun, because it is nice to get out of Boston once in a while and see how goth kids in other cities like to party, but Sarah wanted to leave. I convinced her to stay and it paid off because a little bit later the guitarist (Aaron North) and the drummer (Josh Freese, also the drummer from "A Perfect Circle") from NIN showed up at the club. Honestly, I would have never recognized them. To me, NIN has also been just Trent Reznor and I never paid any attention to who was in his touring band. But Sarah, being a long-time NIN fan, pointed them out to me while we were at the show. So of course Sarah was pretty excited when they showed up and she quickly introduced herself (and then me) to them. Aaron seemed pretty quiet and reminded me a lot of my friend Carl. Josh was a little more outgoing, although I didn't really talk to him that much. I went off and did my own thing while Sarah chatted with him.
Anyways, the good news is that Josh gave Sarah two tickets and backstage passes to Friday's show in Boston. And of course, she offered to give the extra ticket and pass to me. Normally, I'd be totally stoked, but I actually already have VIP tickets and backstage passes to the show, lol. But actually, I don't know if I do anymore, because it seems Sid is still angry at me and I'm not sure if she is still going to take me to the show or not
. In the event that she doesn't, though, I'm excited that I'll still be able to go.
Sarah sees this whole thing as an in to partying with NIN and therefore eventually partying with A Perfect Circle (even though they don't exist anymore, lol) and Tool since they share many members. I suppose this all leads her towards her ultimate goal of marrying Trent Reznor, because, you know, they are destined to be together, haha
. Another interesting note... Josh mentioned that he was going to be hanging with Juliana Hatfield at a local bar (which I won't name) tomorrow night. Sarah doesn't want to go, because she doesn't want to seem like a creepy stalker groupie, but I might go, because it is right down the street from me, I doubt that Josh would remember me, and most importantly, I want to meet Juliana Hatfield!

I am envious of you going to see NIN two times. Unlike Sarah, I am not destined to marry Trent Reznor. I dont even think he's that attractive. But I love his music.
