Hey
So I tried to go through my feed and catch up with everybody, but I realised I'd been away for quite some time really. So I hope all my friends on here are doing well and are happy. Congratulations to the new SGs! There have been some beautiful new sets recently and I'm really excited for the new batch of Lavezzaro shootings coming our way soon!
So I got back from Turkey last Monday, and most definitely have the tan lines to prove it. It was like, 35 degrees every day. So hot. We did our fair share of sunbathing, as it was just so nice to be somewhere warm and there was the perfect spot to relax and read in. I read half a book I had downloaded to my phone, 3 Walking Dead comics, a graphic novel called Black Hole and 2/3rd of a graphic novel called Epileptic.
The hotel was massive, had water slides and a private beach. It was pretty awesome, as there was plenty of areas in-resort to get away from the kids if you wanted to and plenty of places to get drinks, with short walks to further beaches and the harbour. The food wasn't too bad, and the entertainment was as expected: bordering on awful, but hilarious. We went out on one of the nights and ended up having a lock-in at one particular restaurant/bar that we got chatting to the waiters in. We got taught some Turkish dancing (which I of course, couldn't remember the next day, as I had a very sore head).
We absorbed a little of the culture whilst we were there, which I was really most excited for. We visited a saturday market, and it was quite fun really. We got called all sorts of names - JLo, Ginger Minger, Blondie, Jordan(!), and the traders kept shouting phrases like 'we are the Turkish Primark!' and 'Buy now, pay after Christmas!' We bought some souvenirs. We also took a trip to Ephesus and it was really wonderful. It made me fascinated by mythology and I even came back and bought a book on classic myths to get into. The guided tour was really fascinating, the guide himself was really good and super knowledgeable, and taught us so much about Turkey itself on the coach there before telling us everything there is to know about Ephesus. The architecture was beautiful and I loved all the stories. We also got shown the only pillar of the Temple of Artemis. Another day, we visited the Temple of Apollo, similarly as inspiring and beautiful.
We took a cruise around the bay on the last day we were there, so I'll leave you with a few more photos of the beautiful coast and ocean, views of the bay the hotel was in, and myself and Steph.
So that's a quick summary of my time in Turkey. It was just lovely and I'd really like to go back and visited more of Turkey some day. We missed out on visiting Dalyan and Bodrum, and I'd really like to visit Istanbul one day. I hope Rob and I can go some time in the future.
It was back to reality fairly soon, I had one sleep day after the night flight and then a day off before returning back to work. I feel like I've hardly seen Rob as I had two long days, a day off and then back to work for 5 night shifts, but now I'm on my days off again to recover and spend some time with the boy. We've been really into Breaking Bad, as I watched one episode and was hooked, and we're now up to the 3rd season. It's so good! No spoilers please, I'm excited.
I have a very exciting day coming up, for I am meeting Fische for the first time in London for fun times. I believe cocktails and photo shoots are in order! I'm very much looking forward to it. I will also get to see my best friend watchthisman in the evening before the journey home. On that note, I hope you all have exciting plans coming up, too <3.
