I made a post in the Kitties group about how I feed my cats homemade food instead of store bought. I thought I'd share the 2 recipes I use the most.
The raw food one I'll post first is the "regular" diet.
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Raw kitty food
1/2 cup water
4 egg yolks
2000 mg salmon oil
400 IU Vitamin E
75 mg Vitamin B-complex
2000 mg taurine
3/4 tsp iodized salt
4 oz. chicken liver
3 lb chicken thighs
1 lb ground rabbit meat
1 finely ground up chicken bone (or 1 tbs bone powder + 1 tbs gelatin)
2 tsp. zested zucchini
Mix egg yolks, water, salmon oil, ground bone, supplements (vitamins, taurine, salt) and zuchinni in a bowl.
Boil half of the chicken thighs for a few minutes (should not be cooked all the way through). Remove from water and cool.
Grind up the rest of the unboiled chicken and mix with the rabbit meat. Take the boiled chicken and cut into small dice-sized chunks. Mix the chunks into the ground meat mixture (this is very important for dental health). Make sure to include any blood from the packaging.
Pour supplement and egg mix into meat mixture and blend together thoroughly by hand.
Immediately put into sealable containers and freeze.
Use only one container at a time and portion it into little baggies-- do not heat in the microwave before feeding to your cat, but rather let it sit in hot water until it's slightly warmer than room temperature.
And this next one is for more of a kitty treat type thing-- very good for dental health and pretty healthy, but it shouldn't be considered a staple "main" food because it is lacking in some important vitamins.
