the idea of being a teacher is one that is sort of overwhelming.
i am becoming more aware of the position i have put myself in as students come for me to advice.
my hip hurts in this posture, what should i do? i dont think im doing this right, how should it feel? etc etc
it feels good to be a purveyor of knowledge. and it feels really good to be listened to. but at the same time, i feel nervous about it. what if im wrong? everybody is different, built differently, and suppose my advice isn't relevant? then what?
listening, and then asking questions is becoming more central in my mode of communication with students.
pain in a certain joint (ie, hip) could be anything... rotation of the hip, where the weight of the body is being placed on the foot, the angle of the upper body in relation to the joint. advice is something that people ask for when they are having problems or issues. and i have no problem giving any that i have, but i do find it strange that people expect me to know everything right away.
all i can do is share what i know, and hope for the best.
i'm gaining more confidence in my abilities as an instructor, and i think that eventually i will be able to call myself a teacher. as long as i use what i have learned and continue to build on that foundation, then there is nowhere to go but up.
