OH MY GOD.
so guess who's finally online!! oh, thats me!
its been FOREVER!!! oh how ive missed the internet. hahaha. well, not really ... its been kind of cool without it, but damn... a lot has happened in the last 7 weeks or so.
Nick is officially out of the picture i think. cosmic forces combined, and the universe handed me a young man named Atalay. he's amazing. like, says what im thinking before im even finished forming my thoughts and wow... i dont want to say too much, but i seriously dig him. we've pretty much been inseparable for the last few weeks, and it sucks that my crew is moving to a different camp. boo.
so yeah ... tree planting. my first day was horrible. i decided that the way to be good at this was to learn to plant with both hands. my first paychq sucked because i had to pay for my shovel and all my gear and the fact i was planting only left handed ... i think i planted 7,000 trees in the first two weeks.
im getting better though. im averaging about 1100-1200 trees a day, but i still havent cracked 13k yet. this is going to be the week though. we're getting new land, and its going to be stupid hard - apparently its all rocks, slash and tons of hills... but as the land gets shittier the tree prices go up.
i dont care if i have to slut in every single tree, this is the week im going to start putting in 2k a day. i came here to make money and start over and thats exactly what im going to do.
this tree planting lifestyle is awesome. this season is already half over and i already cant wait to come back next year. ive met so many amazing people and had so many wonderful experiences ... i cant even express with words my current state of happiness. its kind of overwhelming.
as much fun as im having, and as hard as im working ... I CAN'T WAIT TO COME HOME TO VANCOUVER!!!!
pay day tomorrow!! i cant wait ... my 2nd chq is over $1200 (before taxes ... hahaha)!!!! thats more money than ive ever made in 2 weeks, ever!!!!!!!!!!
i wonder if i can claim my camp fees on my taxes ... hmmm ...
OH!!! and the whole vegan thing!!! the cooks at the last camp were awesome! Becks, one of the cooks, was super awesome, and she totally made these amazing brownies... they were so good i was calling them BTSBs. hahahaha. thats a 'better than sex brownie' anmd seriously .... those things made it into my mouth before we even got to the block most days.
we got to plant powerlines for a shift and a half, and it was stupid sweet. 12+ cents a tree, and i had this really sweet piece one day, it was beautiful ... the soil was perfect.
around 5 one day, i added my tally and i was only at 900 ... so i bagged up another 200 trees and hit that piece running ... after that i was only at 1100 ... so i bagged up another 120, and pounded them out in 15 minutes. my best pace ever - i planted 320 trees in 45minutes. it was INTENSE!!
i was so proud of myself. if i could keep pace like that all day (i was panting and sweating - it was gross), i could do 3k a day ...
this is the week to push, plant more trees, be more fit, make more money.
oh vancouver ... i cant wait to come home to you!!!
