Hey Loves, did you miss me?
I just had the best summer! After working for 3 months with an amazing theatre company to help them wrap up their season, I headed off on another adventure of a lifetime!
My first destination was Taipei, Taiwan. Not your average tourist destination, but honestly, its an amazing city. I went with 4 classmates as part of a volunteer group organized by my professor. We were to help run the largest design festival in the theatre world! We arrived early in order to explore the city before the festival.
The first week there was amazing! We stayed in Jaintan, right next to the mountains! We would often go for hikes on the mountain, and one day we stumbled upon an outdoor gym! The owners invited us in for tea and let us work out with them for a bit! Next to the mountain was a famous night market. Due to the tropical and humid climate, most shops open in the evening when it's cool. We explored the market almost every night, always finding new shops and new nick nacks. We also explored the famous Taipei 101! A must see if you're ever there. There are amazing views of the entire city! Not the mention it has the cutest mascot.
We moved from the midtown area up to the northern part of Taipei to begin work on the festival. It was an amazing event. The brightest minds from all over the world, beginners and professionals from every single continent. It was incredible to be surrounded like that. I met so many people and had so many wonderful opportunities. I hope that this helped me towards some potential jobs when I'm in Germany in the fall!
After the festival was over we stayed a few extra days to explore some more. We found more night markets, a pier, and even a secret swimming hole! It was the best day!
After my amazing 3 weeks in Taipei, I headed to Hong Kong to meet up with a friend of mine from Toronto. I was supposed to be t there for 10 days, but left after 6 due to an illness. Aside from being annoyingly sick for most of it, I had an amazing time. We shopped, ate, and swam our days away. I got to eat a huge homemade feast and many different types of cuisine while I was there! I don't think I'll ever eat food that good again! I even went standing paddle boarding! It was really fun when it wasn't raining, but We still managed to have a good time when it was. I will say this though, I cannot keep up with their drinking. I had the only 2 day hangover of my life while I was there!
I'm back home in my lovely countryside house nursing my sickness and trying to cure my jet leg. One more month till my next adventure!
