It's been a crazy past week since I last updated. A few hours after I posted my last entry I received a phone call from my aunt saying that my uncle had passed away.
Generally death isn't something that I get really emotional about ... it's part of life. It's something you have to face numerous times.
I look back to a few years ago when another close family member had passed away. He died in the hospital, in his sleep with all of us there with him and it was a great time for our family to spend those last days with him.
My uncle that passed away on Sunday didn't get to have all of that, which I think is what upsets me the most. He died alone laying on his living room floor for hours before anyone found him. It makes me sick to think that he layed there suffering trying to reach for the phone to call 911. Something that could've been prevented if he might've had his cell phone on him or even had his cordless phone on a lower shelf instead of all the way at the top. He deserved so much more than that.
It's really starts to make you think about others you love. I think of my father that has a bad back and if something similar were to happen to him and it just makes me sick. I don't even expect anyone to read such a depressing entry but if you've read this far think of your loved ones whether they are healthy or with a medical condition. How simple it is to nag them to carry their cell phones on them or get a call alert system. Give them that opportunity to spend their last moments with the people they love and not alone.
