Life as a freelancer is a bit of a weird one.
Whilst it's refreshing and challenging, it can make you feel a little alienated at times. I've spent the past few nights working until 5am and noticed that I've barely spoken 2 words to a human being. It doesn't sound all that odd but I like some form of human interaction that doesn't involve a wall post or micro chat using a keyboard.
I'm not sure whether it's the lack of a decent conversation or the constant coding recently but typing real words is becoming an odd concept. A number of times I've been typing out a sentence, lost concentration and ended up typing other random words, perfectly spelt just nothing at all to do with what I was thinking. I'm beginning to think that I can type better than I can converse these days.
I need to get out more!
Suffice to say, a trip is planned for 2 days time back to the arse end of the world where all my lovely friends live which I'm actually rather excited about. Various nights out on the town will be braved, numerous drinks will be imbibed and no doubt a few sticky situations will be expertly handled either by myself or partner in crime aka the brother from another mother. A gig I have been patiently awaiting for too long will also happen on saturday night, Circa Survive. Christ I love that band! What makes it even sweeter is the free tickets I was so graciously given. A little human interaction combined with one of my all time top bands will certainly make up for my recent studio isolation. I just hope that one of my clients will be thoughtful enough to actually pay one of my invoices otherwise I'll be confined yet again to a house. Ahh well, it still beats the hell out of working for someone else.
