Well, in true nerd fashion, I decided to give my dog a little party for turning 5 years old. She got a lovely steak dinner and a trip down to the Lake. We lazed around on the beach, she rolled in goose poop and chased swans. It was probably the best day a dog could have. She even made a new friend, a lively bull mastiff named Oscar, with whom she promptly ran right into the smelly water with. She did not smell good in the car on the ride home. I also had a wonderful time. It's been a long time since I went down to the lake, and it was warm enough to be relaxing, but not so warm that there were many people there. It was pretty, for once, the water was blue instead of that icky brown colour it turns later in the year. We spent a couple hours walking around and then decided to go. The light was dimming and the beach was becoming deserted. I felt tired and the poor dog looked like she was about to pass out. She slept on my lap the whole ride home.
