I'm driving down to Vegas tomorrow.
The above sentence should be filled with giddy anticipation, or at least some type of world-weary debauched enthusiasm, but I'm actually going to see my sick grandma. She's ninety-goddamn-three. Probably not long for this world.
The good thing is that my brothers are also coming down to Vegas, from L.A. and San Francisco. So there's that. And I'll have some skunky-skunk for the trip, so there's that also. And I won't have to pay for any food I eat while I'm there. I might even bring my laundry -- it costs me $2.50 a load at my apt complex, which is just ridiculous. I may be several years removed from college, but doing laundry at your parent's house never goes out of style.
