So things are getting a little better.
I have found a part time job. It's retail again- seriously I have realized that I must have some sick, subconcious fixation with working at the mall- because I have not missed a Christmas season there- but for one- since I was fifteen- that's like ten years of dealing with stressed out, child, latte and shopping bag juggling people.
On the upside- my coworker thought I was only 18, and so did my boss.
So now I have a few hours a week, working at a framing and art gallery where I work on photo restorations. It's enough to give me some extra cash, but still under the line to allow me to still collect unemployment... speaking of which...
I finally got my record of employment from my employer- that was a fun journey. Basically a year ago the company was preparing to go public, so they split into two entities. The design department- which I worked in- became it's own company. This meant we all received a contract that ended our employment with our current company and started our employment, with the new one. It was completely legit, our job status didn't change, nothing did. However, because of this, I needed to get two records of employment from my employer- one of which should have been given to everyone before. It's taken three requests, two via email, and one in person to finally get this.
I have avoided my old workplace as much as possible. I know my co-workers, and people talk and gossip and no doubt- my being let go was one of those things... and my persistence as to why, and getting what was rightfully mine.
Yesterday when I yet again, didn't get both records of employment, I wrote a very straightforward email to the VP telling- not asking- but telling her, I would be picking up the correct records, this afternoon.
I ended up going in to work for a few hours at my new job, and asked my mom to swing by and get it for me. Not wanting to be a demanding bitch for no reason.
This is when shit got real- lol.
The president of the company happened to be in the entrance way when my mom walked into the office to simply pick up my ROE which was sitting on the reception desk waiting for me. My mom had been waiting for an opportunity like this. She let him have it.
He in turn, went upstairs to get my direct supervisor, and they all had a meeting where they said a whole bunch of reasons they let me go, that they hadn't imparted on me. Of course, being a mom, she said to them that they had handled things extremely unprofessionally, and she would ensure that nobody she knew supported their business.
Normally this would have embarrassed the hell out of me- after all, I am a grown woman. Instead I spent a little while stressed about what they had said about me (to my mom no less) and then reminded myself that it doesn't matter anymore. I don't want the job back, and I am moving on to hopefully a much happier and fulfilled life.
In the words of one of my very best friends;
"Fuck 'em"
On another note, I have revisited my interest in old, abandoned, and sometimes, allegedly haunted places.
One day, I'd love to visit some of them, like Pripyat, Ukraine, which lies inside the exclusion zone after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. What it looks like now;
You can actually visit for a short period of time, without getting sick. They are actually looking to complete a new sarcophagus for reactor 4 (which was the source of the explosion) by 2011.
Another cool place;
San Zhi, located just outside of Taipei, Taiwan. It was originally built to be a getaway for affluent business men and women, but a series of accidents due to fault construction caused contractors to abandon the project. Apparently, it's haunted too.
There are a slew of other cool places I've discovered, but if you know of any off the top of your head- I'd love to hear about them!

The novel Nicholson's Ghost by John Gardner was based on the house of my friend Adam, which was supposed to be haunted. There were lot's of stories from people who said they'd heard the ghost.
