When it comes to my family, the scales are always tipping back and forth as to who is doing well, and who isn't.
My grandmother had to be moved to a nursing home back in May, and she finally got moved to the other side of it- which is newer. For the longest time, we thought we were going to lose her, but now, she's waaaay better. God bless the nurse who made the simple change to start giving her tea at night before she goes to bed, and serve her breakfast in bed in the morning. I know that sounds silly, but it has made a world of difference.
My sister Melanie, who is in 9th grade, (not the one I always rant about) is sliding. Not health wise, but academically. My other sister Wendy (the one I do always rant about) and I warned her that coming from the school she did, she was not taught English properly, so she would have to try really hard to keep up this year. She hasn't. She is currently getting 27% in the class. She hasn't got her mark high enough to repeat the course in summer school right now for a two week session (which is standard). As it stands now she either has to go to summer school for a month and a half, or take the course next year.
In other news my mom caught the crazy.
She just bought a triplex from someone last week and is finalizing the deal. However she had a dream the other night that she was on her final walk through the house and noticed the wall paper was completely lumpy. So she pulled some of it back to reveal;
Smurfs. Yep, smurfs, stuck to the wall. Apparently in her dream the owners told her that they couldn't get them off, so they just wallpapered over them.
The best part. My mom got a building inspection the next day.

I'd love Smurf wallpaper - it'd be Smurf-rific!
27%?
Ouch.
My grade 12 English mark was 40-something. I got over 80% on my exam, but only 5% for the term work. (I rarely attended class, and did none of the assignments or readings). But thankfully, it was good enough to do upgrading in the summer.
How is it that she didn't learn much at her previous school?
