I never update anymore. I suck, I know.
I'm a little upset... well okay-- very upset at the moment. My roommate left on Wednesday to go on vacation for two weeks. She asked me to do one thing for her while she was gone-- keep the pets alive. And on Monday I came home to find both her goldfish dead and bloated and floating in their tank. I don't know what I did wrong! I didn't forget to feed them (like she thought I would)-- I fed them everyday (except Sunday when I wasn't here)! I know I didn't overfeed them because I didn't give them that much food. I feel SO terrible. She loves those fish. And they're not just tiny boring crappy generic goldfish-- they're the cool big ones. Or were. now they're in a plastic bag in the freezer awaiting burial upon her return.
The only thing that I can think of that might have killed them was the heat-- it was extremely hot this weekend and since I wasn't home much I didn't turn the AC on. When I came home on Monday it was all hot and disgusting inside. And their tank is right next to the window where the sun shines in, so it was probably even hotter in there.
Anyway my roommate is going to kill me when she gets home. She left a message on my voicemail earlier today, telling me how great Portland is and how I should move there, and saying she hoped all the animals were still alive...

if i were you i'd go with a story similar to Shayne's and say the fish commited suicide. they jumped out of the tank and you found them on the floor. it's like romeo and juliet or something.
or i guess there's the truth. and if she's weird about that...that's her problem.
