On second thought, I don't think I'm going to buy that Peaches cd. I downloaded half the songs and all but one are terrible. Particularily bad is the duet between her and Iggy Pop: they shout extreemely forced self-referential rhymes back and forth over canned guitar/drums. It's painful to listen to. Really.
I think part of the problem is that her first cd was amateurish and poorly written and produced, but it had that really gritty lo-fi thing that made it sound raw in a good way . But this cd is full of samples and guest vocalists, things are smoothed out... and it doesn't make sense to use the same five crappy sound effects and canned beats when you're using new equipment that can do alot more. It was impressive that she did so much with her one crappy beatbox, but if she's moving on to better equipment her sound should progress too.
Anyway. I'm still going to go see her live.
I had kind of a shitty day. It should have been good because it was my day off and I was getting my hair cut/colored (the first time I've had it done professionaly in like six years; one of the major perks of my job is all the free salon services) and then my best friend and I were going to get together and shoot some pictures for me to send to SG.
But, I ended up spending half the day in the salon because my boss was running late with his other clients, and of course even though it was my day off, everyone wanted me to do shit because I was there... and my hair...well, he cut off WAY more than I wanted him to. My hair was down to my ASS when I went in there, which, yes, is way too long, but I wanted to keep it pretty long because I LIKE having long hair, and it would've looked really good in the pictures. But he cut it like shoulder-length. It's a nice cut, it definitely looks better than before and I like the red highlights... but I felt like I stood out before, because of my long hair, people were always commenting on it, and now... I look like everyone else.
But it's silly to get depressed about a haircut. It'll grow out.
We ended up postponing the pictures until next week, though. Hopefully that will work out. I've got a ton of ideas for photo sets and I'm really looking forward to modeling .

you have some cool taste as well. since you like The Faint, i'll tell you that I'm working on a cover of Violent. right now it's at an early stage (no vocals), but most of the instrumentation is there (so it sounds very The Faint/Kareoke). if you want, I can email it to you. it should be done with vocals in about 2 weeks (school/job permitting). one man band is hard...
