A disunited kingdom seethes in disgust
Who you vote for you can never trust
A great melting pot of lust and desire
Stiff upper lip and funky street fire
Grey starch days and endless neon nights
Bowler hat brigade and smalltown fights
Suffragette tradition of dissent
ENGLAND DESTROYS AND ENGLAND EXPECTS!

Gold Blade - "Psycho" (2005)

Still sat here, still planning, still not really getting anywhere fast...

Anyway, ten top memories of Wasted 2005

1) Gold Blade. Feck me them guys rock! They're playing the Cockpit in Leeds on June 21st, rest assured I'll be in attendance and dragging as many people along as I can.

2) Standing next to me at the merch stand, there was a massive geezer with spiky bleached hair buying some fanzines and CD's. Didn't think any more of it until the bloke sorting his items out said "Here you go Lars man, nice one" and he replied "Thanks" in an American accent. I swear, as he walked off I was doing the mother of all double takes... eeek

3) Seeing the aforementioned Mr Frederiksen joining GBH on stage on Thursday night. Superb stuff.

4) UK Subs. If I've got that much rock 'n' roll energy when I'm in me 50's I'll consider myself to have done a very good job at growing old indeed! biggrin

5) Seeing Leeds lads Guns on the Roof and the Dead Pets both deliver absolutely storming sets during the weekend.

6) Drinking with the very excellent syer_lps and meeting some thoroughly top blokes through him including Cousin Joey, Stuntface and Instant Agony. The first two of whom might just be doing a gig for my new agency up here in Leeds in the autumn, fingers crossed...

7) Angelic Upstarts. As much as I like 'em, I'd never really rated them as a live band. Their performance on the Saturday night sure as hell changed my view on that point. Rest assured that Richie Hammond (also of Leatherface) and Lee Wright make one hell of a double guitar attack team. smile

8) Eastfield - comprehensive winners of the "Best band I'd never heard of before the weekend" thing. Trainspotter punk, why has nobody come up with that idea before? biggrin

9) Max Splodge's bingo. The guy is a legend. biggrin

10) Meeting the legendary Charlie Harper at the merch stand. A top geezer and an all round nice bloke. smile

Back here in Leeds meanwhile...not much to report on the job front sadly. One thing I may just do if I haven't got anything lined up on when my current employment runs out is go away for a week to visit my mum up at her holiday cottage near Berwick if only to be somewhere I know I can get away from all the shit that life's thrown at me in the last few weeks and where I'm gonna be less likely to spend money. I may also take my acoustic up with me and get on with some songwriting - I've got lots of ideas which are slowly turning themselves into what sound like fucking great songs - the total antidote to the watered down crap on the radio at the moment. I shall also take the following albums up to make sure I don't lose my focus (this should give you an idea of what the new stuff sounds like):

LEATHERFACE: "Mush"
SNUFF: "Six Of One And Half A Dozen Of The Other"
GOLD BLADE: "Home Turf", "Drop The Bomb", "Do You Believe In The Power Of Rock 'n' Roll", "Rebel Songs"
ANGELIC UPSTARTS: "Last Tango In Moscow"
VIBRATORS: "Guilty", "Alaska 127"
THE RUTS: "The Crack"
SENSELESS THINGS: "Taking Care Of Business"
MEGA CITY FOUR: "Soulscraper"
COMPULSION: "The Future Is Medium"
CHINA DRUM: "Goosefair"

So c'mon folks, what's on your listening list at present?

Hope everyone's okay - speak to youse all soon.

Yorkie

PS Coldplay and Oasis getting kept off the number one spot by a fuckin' talking frog! Oh yes, I know I should be outraged and appalled but given that Oasis haven't made a decent album in nine years now and should really have gone the same way as Shed Seven and Sleeper and that Chris Martin symbolises everything I hate about pretentious whiny jumped up smug little indie pricks, I actually find it quite funny even if the crazy frog is about as annoying as a particularly nasty dose of scabies. biggrin

So let's celebrate with the rockers and the freaks!
The angel faces in the high street freakshow!
The chavs fight back with their stupid fists
Well kiss, kiss, kiss my ass!!
