Another day of doing exactly nothing. At least I left my house today. The good news is that people are getting back in town so I dont have to be alone anymore. I cracked out an old Cure album last night, special tortoure when your feelilng down, its amaising how much they remind me of HS.
I was poking around the MTV sight today and I came across the section called "Casting Call" and its had like 20 or 30 shows looking for people. They were all, are you hot? Do you want to be hot? Do you have a special story that is embarassing? I hate MTV. The first couple "Real World" was good b/c they had great people who were real, they might have even had an overweight person. Now its all supermodels and people who dont look real. Its the same problem that has taken hold of music, people judged by how the look and not their talent. If the same standards that are being used today were used even a generation ago we would have grown up with the Monkey's replacing the Beatles (who actually happened to be attractive), or a world with no Aretha Franklin's b/c she's over weight and not pleasing to the camera when it does'nt take into account that she could sing anyone under the table w/o trying. The indie rockers are just as bad, if you dont have the corret "ironic" T-shirt and tight blue jeans you aint cool. Everything has become more style and less substance. Every time I go to NYC the most "stereotypical" New Yorkers are always people that have moved there w/i the last 5 years. The people that grew up there are not as stupid and obsessed with that bullshit.
My point?
Today is/was (its after midnight but not where she is) my GF/x/whatever birthday. I talked to her on the phone, this distance thing sucks.
