Going from a small town economy to a big city economy is hard.
"This job offers X a year, is that satisfactory?"
IDK, here I could raise a family of eight on that and still have a savings account. $400 could get me a two bedroom apartment in a good neighborhood. $700 will get you an apartment with a heated pool, full gym, less than a mile from groceries, and dozens of restaurants. $1400 will get you a 3 bedroom Victorian era apartment overlooking the water, in the safest part of downtown within walking distance from the best restaurants in town.
In other cities, $1,400 will get you a studio outside the city. $400 will get you a closet.
X is a lot of money for me, more than my parents retire earning, but is that good there?
P.S. X isn't that much, just ranting.
