I am still alive and around. On spring break. Been awhile since I checked in. Yikes!
waldo_jeffers:
Good to hear you are still alive, dude! smile I must confess that I have also been a bit irregular with my journal updates lately.

Yikes. First week is a killer. Total students: 211. Law? What law? Heh.

35 is totally middle-aged.

Well the potatoes are naturally blue, so nothing surprising as a result. The corn chips had lots of food coloring, so I guess that's what made them so psychedelic.

So, I had a catastrophic system failure on Easter Sunday. Did not lose my Music, thankfully, but everything else is Casper. I clearly have a strong Buddha nature, as the loss of 10 years worth of photos and lots of other irreplaceable media affected me almost not at all. All things are transient, ne?

well. you need to hook me up, cuz this part of the state is dryyyy.

literally. we're down 11 inches on rainfall. the grass is all crunchy n shit.
waldo_jeffers:
Cheers for your reassurances. However, I obviously am nearing middle-age as I initially thought that sarahg's comment (above) was made in reference to local weather conditions (incidentally, talking of the weather, which we Brits love to do, we've had so much rain here that there have been floods) although after about 2 seconds, I realised that she was actually referring to the economics of supply and demand in respect of agricultural produce. Hee hee!! wink

On spring break, so get to sit around doing nothing. Maybe later in the week I'll get some lesson plans going and so forth, but to-day I'm going to do nothing. Except laundry. Spent the weekend in Nashville, where I would move if only they paid their teachers some decent wage, and saw The Shins on Friday and The Features on Saturday. Pretty good weekend,...

That sounds very interesting. It is fascinating to consider the role that man has played in shaping the form and contents of a book which is alleged to be the Word of God!! Even now, 20 centuries on, not all churches agree on the same canon (some orthodox churches exclude the Revelation of John, and several of the Epistles).
waldo_jeffers:
I've just been reading through your Top Ten lists. I still haven't got around to filling mine in (partly because I am so fickle that my Top Ten lists would probably change every week). I just thought I'd say that you have some good choices there. Sid Meier's games rock!!!

Birthday party last night. Realtively small and intimate. I can't tell if I'm spelling right or not, because I am pretty hung over. I am going to eat some sushi in a minute and continue to do my part of the cleaning. G last night she would clean everything up as a birthday present, but then drank with her antibiotics and is still in bed...

Happy New Year, all. So it goes.

New Years party went well. 3 kegs and about a dozen cases of various booze, and I didn't even get drunk. Too busy having to deal with everyone and their mother (well, MY mother) trying to be all social and "it's been so long!" Oh well. It's amazing to me that I have friends at all, what with...

So, I'm getting sexed regular again, I just got a 150 or so dollar credit on my Amazon.com card for no good reason, finished book 3 of Songs of Fire and Ice series, got a submission ready (though not necessarily worthy) copy of "Crossing the Uncanny Valley" finished, I feel the stirrings of a new project, and I have a couple of pretty decadent parties...

No thanksgiving festivities, save a low key affair with my mom and stepdad. Did take the vacation to finally finish my story. (Novelette, actually, according to the SF&F guidelines). As in Finish finish. V nice. Of course, I'm afraid it's impossible to follow for anyone without an advanced degree in history and/or literature and willing to take copious notes, but I gotta have faith that...

Wanted to thank you for the comment you left in my journal. It was all, finally, good advice from someone not speaking solely out of their personally opinionated ass. Not that there's anything wrong with talking out of your ass, but your ass had citations for other asses, so it seemed near symphonic.

Especially thanks for the direction on the "Conversation" story I'm working through. When I read your comment, it was like a beam illuminated a shadow and that "aaawwwwuuuuuhhhh" note played and I smacked my forehead and went OF COURSE! Of course I'm not writing him as the angry Christian! He's NOT one!

I like you; you actually read and you actually write, and those are the only two things I ACTUALLY care about.

God damn, I am glad my week is over, even if it was only two days long. Been in a wierd headplace. This weekend, one of my brother's old running crew got brutally murdered. (Emphasis on brutal.) Don't really feel grief - haven't seen the guy since I was a squirt - but it has devistated the families of my childhood which is sort of...
