I guess because I never thought I'd become one of those pathetic women who can't stop loving the wrong person. Or that I would let my dissatisfaction with that part of my life interfere with the parts that should be satisfying.

You could be the twin for one of the associates at my job. He's actually from Belarus, rather than Russia, but it's close enough that most people don't know the difference.
