Alrighty, I got a question. It requires some background info first though...
I resigned from my job in IT just 2 weeks ago. I've been saving my money up for a while so that I have enough savings to live off for at least a year... and thats giving myself quite a decent budget to live on. I'm not on government welfare or anything like that. I am living off my own money that I worked for.
Today, I wanted to try and move my mobile phone over to a different provider... I was previously with Telstra, and honestly, they are useless. I've had nothing but trouble with them since I left work. I tried transferring my phone number from the employer's corporate account to my own personal account (I had all the correct authorisation etc from my employer to do this). Something which should have taken them 15 minutes to do, and maybe a couple of hours for the network to be updated ended up taking about five miserable days. Why? Because every single arsehole I spoke to at Telstra told me something different about what I was required to do. If someone does not know how to do something, can't they just go and ask someone who does, rather than just guessing what they are supposed to do, and wasting my time? I wouldn't expect a single person in a company to know how to deal with every possible scenario. Come on Telstra boys, it doesn't shrink your dick any to say you are not sure how to do it, and call someone up for help. Man, by the end, I felt like just telling them to forget it and just get a new number - but of course that would have been painful having to inform everyone of my new number, and plus, I like my current number... it's easy to remember, which is handy because I have a shit memory.
Anyway, I FINALLY got the number ported to my name. Hooray. Next dilemma, I went through $30 credit in just under 2 weeks - I don't use the phone much. After looking at what other networks offer, I quickly realised that Telstra have the most rip off plans available. So, I decided to move to Vodafone, which have much better offers. My $30 would go a LOT further with Vodafone.
So here's what happened today. I went to a nearby Vodafone store, with all the relevant material make the switch. Everything is going fine, until I am asked about my employment. I explained that I just resigned, but I have saved up significant funds to live off. bad move. I was rejected immediately, as they could not complete a credit check unless I have a valid employer.
Ok, fair enough - I understand that it would be bad business for Vodafone to let anyone sign up for a 24 month contract, and then finding out they can't pay the bills. I offered to let them see my bank balance, hoping that maybe they would see that I have more than enough money to cover myself. Of course, this wasn't good enough. They didn't want to know how much I had saved up? I mean for fuck sake, what if I won the lottery and had $10,000,000 in the bank (which, in case you are wondering, I don't - just making an exagerated point here). Why the hell would I still maintain a job if I had that much dough. And don't give me any of that "contributing to society" rubbish. Most jobs are pointless. I mean, I worked in IT for a law firm. I would never pretend that my job was important. It's not like being a doctor or something. I'm not saving lives... probably just aiding the Lawyers in making other peoples lives a misery (maybe I will write about that sometime too)
With no other option, I ended up going on a prepaid plan, but this really bites, because it means I am not on a contract, and therefore I miss out on getting a free decent phone, and the call fees are not quite as good. But hey, if I was leeching off the government on unemployment benefits, I'd be able to get it without a problem. What the fuck is with this country. I am sick of a country that embraces fucking dole bludging motherfuckers who don't even try to get a job or consider using the time to further their education, and meanwhile, I fucking work my arse off for several years so that I could save up enough money to support myself for a year, and I get treated like this.
Give me a break. Maybe I should lose my conscience, and just go on the dole and fucking suck money from the tax payers. I am sure they'll role out the red carpet for me then. Unfortunately I have moral issues about just taking money for nothing.
So my question is this: Is it safe to use a Gillette Mach 3 razor (3 blades) to shave my balls? I wanna send my pubes to Vodafone and Telstra.
