There are few fields that are really 24 hour jobs; I seem to have one of them.
Last night I was at work until about 11 pm putting the finishing touches on a shipping script for an e-commerce site that would go live that night. I was woken up early this morning with news that the server had gone all wonky, and I needed to log in and fix it. And I just now spent 2 hours with the owner of that same site after having gotten their first order, making sure everything turned out ok.
I have to say though I love what I do. I still share in the excitement of a first-time sale, or seeing all of a client's product lines make the first page on Google. After all this time, I'm still amazed when my shit actually works.
In other news, I finally got my Strongbad DVD. I love the commentaries, and some of the nifty making-of stuff; it's definitely worth it just for the bonus features alone. My only complaint is that they've disabled the fast forward and rewind buttons on all the e-mails. My biggest frustration on the site is that I can't rewind or fast forward to scenes I like. I thought I finally might be able to do that with the DVD but, oh well.
I've had a mystery smell in my apartment for about a week. It smelled moldy and relatively gross, but I wasn't sure where it came from. At first I figured the dirty dishes, so I cleaned those, and it was still around. I threw out the trash twice, and it was still lingering. After a while it was gone but I wasn't sure if I just got used to it.
Tonight during my coding binge I went to nuke some Hot Pockets, only to find the present I'd left for myself in the microwave. I'm not sure exactly what it was originally, but the mystery smell had been found. I threw the bowl out and thouroughly 409'ed the microwave, so hopefully the remnants of that lovely odor will be gone for good.
