So I think I'm gonna quit my job.
If you've been reading my journal lately you'll notice that I've not been having much fun there. I mean the job has always had its trade-offs, I have to drive 70 miles a day, spend $50 in tolls a month, and another $150 on gas, and I don't make much, at least not nearly as much as I could be making. But I always considered that a compromise from the fact that I can work the way I want, and the hours I want.
But it's been getting a lot more of a hassle to work there lately, with all of the shit they are having me do and the way they've been treating me. Definitely taking me for granted when they don't realize that the talent I bring to the table far surpasses what they could otherwise get in that price range. So, I think I'm going back to freelancing, I miss working in the comfort of my house, without anyone looking over my shoulder all day and telling me what to do.
If anything, this company can contract me to continue to work for them at my specificied hourly rate, or I can take the work I've already done and have plenty of referrals to close my own deals, I write all the proposals and do all the work anyway, doesn't seem like I should be getting only part of the profit.
I gave geniune office work a shot and it just hasn't been worth the money and hassle. If any of the cute girls on my friends list want a scrawny Cuban houseboy to do their bidding, I can send you my resume.
In other news, it looks like my road trip is totally out of the question now. With the unexpected expenditures the last month or so, that's taken a good $600 out of my trip fund, and I can't rent a car without someone over 25 without a deposit of another $500. I thought maybe a train trip would work, doesn't have the convenience of the stop and go qualities of a road trip, but I had fun riding a train last year. Plus, it was really cross country using some of the routes Amtrak had, which went between Orlando, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Portland (that woulda been interesting), and LA.
Turns out however that a cross country trip costs up to 5 times as much as plane ticket, apparently the "accomodations" which is just a seat that turns into a bed, is $100/night over the train ticket fare. I could fly, but that totally takes the fun out of it. It wasn't the destination that really interested me, but the trip itself. And 4 hours in a plane just doesn't have the same effect. So I guess at worst I'll stay in Tampa that Sunday for Livestock, and at best I'll drive up to Jazz Fest in New Orleans, which isn't too far and Isis knows the area well so she can get me a deal.
I'm going to see Three Dog Night at Gulfstream this Saturday. I'm looking forward to that, some of my fav songs are from them (Joy to the World, One is the Loneliest Number). Expect many shitty camera phone pics when that day is over
I think I'm gonna shave today, my beard is not as clean cut as in my pics, I haven't trimmed it since my last trip to Tampa mostly out of lazyness so I'm full on homeless person now. I think I'm gonna experiment, and take different pics, and post em here and get opinions. What do you all think? What? You stopped reading after the first paragraph? Yeah I would've too

Ok I'm happy again
Isis called me while I was ranting away with leah_diane. I am all calm and smiles now thanks to her. Isis is to me what the degauss button is to Leah
if you read her profile that will make more sense.
I haven't really talked to her since December, the last time I met up with her. We missed meeting last time I was in Tampa, mostly my fault, so I really liked being able to just catch up and hear about her always intriguing life. She's like a real life gypsy, I can't wait to see her again now. Definitely at the end of next month and hopefully sooner.
If your friend looked like this, you wouldn't be able to wait either...
