SO what a fucking weekend of shows!
Unfortunately I had to work a lot on Friday and Sunday in order to get Saturday and Tuesday off. That meant missing all of the Pride festivities that were originally planned with many friends.
But it is ok, cause on Saturday night I was dead centre floor and only 2 people away from Tren Reznor for the NIN show. I moved to the back fo the floor after the 6th song due to major elbows in the face... but I was there for the first shower of sweat off of him! One of the greatest moments during the show; "La Mer" (aparently not done before on any Canadian date of this tour) which he used to go into "Into The Void".... wow... what a fucking night!
Tuesday night was another very special concert; Etta James... man that women can still move it, and at the age of 72! Of course, we heard her do the one song everyone was begging to hear; At Last. What a night it was, watching and hearing this blues/jazz/gospel legend in action on stage for one of the last handful of shows she will most likely ever do.
Between these two shows, I have decided to stop fucking around and finally dive head first into what I do (audio engineer). This means taking no crap and no mercy. I will get the work and push my way to the top to at least be changeover crew for such names like NIN, Etta James, U2, Rolling Stones (which I was called to work, but turned it down, lol!), etc.
-Thoroughly SPEANT!
