Busy week for me. To look at it, you might think I'm not a hermit.
Wednesday - a ton of people quit at work. I think the final count for the day was six. I'm not among them, but friends with a few who did quit. A bunch of us went to a nearby bar afterward. Talked with a few coworkers I've not really gotten to know. One of them wants to set me up with a friend of hers. We'll see, I guess.
Thursday - Shadowrun session with friends.
Friday - A date. That's unusual. Met up with a girl from OkCupid. I liked her a lot. We have a lot in common, including the important stuff (no desire to ever have children, no belief in the supernatural, fan of Dexter, y'know, the essentials). Not quite as nerdy as me, but tolerant of it. With a few months' work, I bet I could get her to play some D&D. We just met up at a Thai place I like and chatted for a couple hours. I think we'll get together again. I've never tried getting to know someone like this before; it's a little weird but I'm just going with the flow. If something comes from it, that'd be great. If not, I'm sure I'll survive.
Saturday - Oktoberfest with two friends. Walk around in the blazing heat (fuck you, Arizona) and watch people drink beer. Did that for a few hours until we gave in and just went to a bar to get out of the heat. Hung out for a bit and dropped them off back home, then went out to character creation for a new D&D game I joined with entirely new people. One of the ones who left work is also a D&D nerd and, on his way out, invited me to a new paragon-tier Eberron campaign he's running. I put together a Half-Elf Monk - it's not an optimized build, but it's for flavor. Eberron is a very pulp-style setting, and this character is a callback to the Shadow, the Question, and sort of Batman. He's a detective who traveled the world and learned kung fu. Member of House Medani, naturally - thus the Half-Elf bit. Really looking forward to getting started with the game. My character came together much better than I thought he would, and the DM seems to have some pretty cool stuff in store for us.
Sunday - Breathe. And go see "Let Me In" with friends tonight. And run some errands. Shit, when am I ever going to get a chance to read something? I miss being a hermit.
