I got a sort-of promotion at work today. One I wasn't expecting, either.
As you can see from my profile, I do fraud investigation. When I'm done with my investigation, I write a report detailing what I found. After I've written this report, it goes through a three-step editing process (first with another investigator, then an editor, then the person who acts as direct liaison to the client and send them the report after checking that it meets company standards).
I was told that I don't need the middle-step editor anymore, and as a result I will send my reports directly to the liaison after I have another investigator essentially check it over for typos. Part of this is an increase in the percentage of the commission I receive.
This might not sound like a big deal but, until today, as far as I know, there were two people in our office of about ninety who qualified for this. A handful were moved over today, I think there are maybe seven of us now.
I was further told that I'm considered "hands down, the best writer on site." So that was nice.

Congratulations on the 'promotion'. It's surprising sometimes how much compliments and extra trust from your employer can really make your day better.
