So it's time to renew my SG account. I'm not going to do so. At least, not for a little while.
The combination of my irritation over the photographer thing and the fact that I'm (still) unemployed means I can't really justify spending the money.
Some of my friends here know how to reach me offsite. If you absolutely must reach me, because I'm just...

So my employer laid off almost the entire office on Monday, me included. I can support myself on my savings for quite a while if I'm careful, and I do have a little severance coming my way, but ack. Now I have to find a new job. I don't know if you've heard, but there's some concern that the job market is a little underwhelming...

Sorry to hear it. Best of luck finding a job in your career and area. Though, heck, if your employer is giving you the shove off, maybe it's time to think about throwing all the cards up in the air, taking the chance, and relocating to where you really want to be.

Haha, nope, you don't have to justify to me - I am just a random stranger on the Internet who thinks you're pretty cool and therefore offers you my own personal brand of suspect advice.
We just moved from a house (not much equity, but some) to an apartment in a different city. We are still working to sell the house. It's not looking promising. Financially it was a very foolish decision, and I'm sure the worst is yet to come if we can't sell. But money isn't everything. This was our window, and I am so, so glad to have left our previous city behind.

It's getting to that point where I actually do feel like an old person. I had to give a friend of mine a talk about men the other night, and used the phrase, "As you get older..."
She's twenty-three. And she didn't even fucking flinch as I said it. She nodded along, as if to say, "I have no objections to the fact that you...

Yes, but you may be underestimating the value of stating facts in a humorous and clever manner, I think. Some folks have built whole careers on that.
It's one thing to lay people off because times are tight.
It's another to lie about the reason and suggest that the people in question did not produce quality work.
Don't know how much longer I can support a business that does that.

I can see that. I keep forgetting that people pay money for this site. I think if I were paying money to be here I would feel conflicted too.

I'm on this site because it is a gated community.

I come her for a dose of morbid isolation / social repulsion, and this is what I get?!

Straight outta Innsmouth
A crazy evil warlock named Obed Marsh
Life in a cult has made me harsh
But I don't trip cause this Marsh ain't mellow
I just spit sicker rhymes than the King In Yellow
My hideous crew representin' the sea's bottom
So when I say "Hip!" you say "Ftaghn!"
Straight outta Innsmouth
I should've been a rapper.

That is a particularly funny remark because I am in a waiting room after just being analyzed by a social worker to see if I am emotionally and mentally stable enough to be a prospective egg doner... I should probably not mention my being crazy to her if I want ten grand.
Vanessa Hudgens seems to really enjoy having naked photos of her on the internet. This is, what, the third time? I didn't even know who she was until the first group showed up. Then I forgot until the second group and I realized, "Wait, this happened already." Now I hear there's a third one and I can't conclude anything except that she's doing it on...

May have been quoted to death already, but sadly it is very often appropriate:
