Once upon a time, there was a zone called the Barrens. Everyone went to the Barrens for level 10, level 11, level 12, level 13, level 14, level 15, level 16, level 17, level 18, level 19, and level 20.
And in the Barrens, there was a chat channel called Barrens chat. And talking in Barrens chat were all characters of level 10, level 11,... Read More
I realm-transferred my Troll Warlock and race changed to Forsaken because I had a great character concept. I don't RP, but I have concepts for all my characters.
The concept is still good, but it's the wrong character. And now I want to make him a Blood Elf.
The way I see it, being a jerk is something you do, and and being hot is something you're a) born with and b) inextricably linked to gender in that the plaintiff would have lost the case, and probably never made it to trial, if the genders had been reversed.
I have religiously avoided mmorpgs. I am certain j would disappear into a big black pit of lost time. We are playing Pathfinder and board games right now.
Here's a thing you can make that's easy, not very expensive, lasts a while, and makes a great snack:
Spiced Walnuts
1/3 cup dark-brown sugar
2/3 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt (I might up this by a 1/2 tsp. next time for more of a sweet/salty balance)
Generous pinch of cayenne pepper (I swapped this with 1/4 teaspoon of hot smoked paprika)... Read More
I dont care what anyone believes, as they long as they keep it to themselves. Thats the common refrain of modern religious apathy. When spoken today, the phrase is seen as the politest way to accept the apparently delusional beliefs of other religious groups. It is actually a stunning insult wrapped in so many layers of gentility and ignorance that even... Read More
Remember when I used to blog about interesting things?
No? Hey, fuck you. That's not nice.
Anyway.
I wonder if it's just because I've gotten older that I no longer feel the need to write essays about various political and philosophical points, or if that itch is scratched by having conversations on Facebook and on forums.
Is the itch getting scratched, or do I just... Read More
I'm reading the Prince Of Nothing series by R. Scott Bakker.
I'm about 60% through book 1 and I still don't know how I feel. The below is possibly a little spoilery. Here are the main characters we've seen:
You have one character who's a fantasy rationalist, sort of an objectivist in his philosophy, and reading from his perspective is really cool and interesting. It's... Read More
Well, obviously, I disagree with your position in that it is not coming from a more personal perspective: I prefer myself and/or any child I may have to be able to choose that procedure, for example.
There are point-by-point disagreements I have, but mostly I disagree with not being able to see the positive medicine and psychology the proponents of the procedure advance. I think it's extreme to be advocating or condemning, one way or the other.
You're not out of line in that thread. We just disagree; I think that barring public health concerns, as with vaccines, or conclusive evidence that it causes harm, we don't have a right to interfere with parents' right to make medical decisions for their minor children. Your stance seems to be that unless there is conclusive evidence of benefits of a procedure, and maybe not even then, that we do have that right.
It was a gorgeous storm. The clouds were boiling like the Nothing from Neverending Story (well, more slowly, of course). I drove around until I found a relatively high place and then took a ton of bad, blurry pics on my phone. Very satisfying.
I was using some informal research when I made the arguments. The falling violent crimes rate is pretty well documented. For the rampage killings, I went through Wikipedia's list of rampage killings and counted them by hand.
Since last I wrote and you read, here's what happened:
I got a job working for a major bank. It was okay, but I didn't see much of a future in it. The job itself was fairly complicated stuff involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and loan servicing guidelines and violations thereof, etc. Honestly, it was pretty interesting, but difficult. Not a bad gig.
So regarding the account situation, here's what's going on as I understand it.
I got a new credit card a while ago because someone got access to my information. I forgot to update SG with my new credit card info. SG did some things I didn't like (photographer-gate, specifically), and I made a mental note to cancel when it's time to resubscribe. Then I lost... Read More
