I got Maity to the Veterinarian. She has Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. Antibodies just started attacking her red blood cells for no apparent reason. The Vets of America suspect there is a trigger for the condition but they really have no clue. They do, at least, know how to treat it. With great care and much attention, she may live her entire possible lifespan. She'll never get another vaccination. I can't even give her standard monthly heartworm medication. At the slightest sign of ailment, I must get her to the Vet. Luckily, she is only blind in one eye and, thanks to my walks and play, she has gained some muscle back. It is good that the ex dumped just about everything of mine off here (including Maity - though how he could give her up so easily after claiming to love her so much is baffling to me.)
Now I have a quandary: A Great Uncle of mine has passed away and I can only go to the funeral if I board Maity. Boarding her is risky because of the other dogs and their germs.... Saying farewell to this much-loved Uncle and offering love and support to my Great Aunt and Cousins feels right, of course. I'd have to leave tomorrow and return on Sunday. Family is very important to me, but so is Maity. Maity is my responsibility. I have a cold. Perhaps that will decide for me.
P.S. HAPPY OCTOBER!

Hope you work out what to do
Some good friends that love dogs would be handy.
But that's not happening, I don't know.
Maybe your cold will decide.
Sorry.
