I wanted to write a happier entry, so here we go:
what could be happier than living in a giant, fiberglass lemon!? this is from hanging out at the fair last summer with lessthanthree, Larry, and Jennifer
Things have been terribly busy but now that the weekend is here i feel like I've gained some measure of control over things. I spent some quality time just talking with Alohra which made me feel alot better.
As far as my academic life, I'm meeting with my advisor pretty soon to figure next year out. I tend to want to bite off more than seems chewable, but i intend to chew it.
And in the world of employment, I've been going to job fairs (which are giant corporate fests) which have been pointing me in the right direction i hope. I may have a job on campus doing filing, and I'm interviewing for an internship next week as well a a job. I've been going to interviews for the past two weeks and it seems like I keep having to get dressed up all the time! I'm hoping I've got it all under control. I've been working in the prit shop making screens for t-shirts, thats pretty cool although last-minute orders are stressful.
Here's the good stuff:
Last week I went to the art museum and saw Diane Arbus' stuff. I worship her, her work is really what I want to do with my photography someday. I love art museums. the pre-raphaleites were pretty neat although I dont understand the paradox of being rebellious through classical means. Guess I do need to take art history, after all. Boys brother came to town which meant we rented a million weird movies, got voo-doo donuts and cajun food, and drove all around the city. I was nervous about entertaining the boys but it was fun.
Also, this incredible poet came to our school and spoke. It was like everything he said resonated with me. He slammed about music, about men and women, about religion, all tied together. I love slam poetry when its good. I bought his book and am waiting for it to come in the mail.
I'm hopeful that the weeks to come are going to be exiting and fun as long as I can get my shit together. There are 3 or 4 parties/shows on campus tonight, more art lectures and speakers coming up, and of course all the end of the year stuff that's going to be great.
As for me, I have 4 papers and two interviews, my first day of work and classes to sign up for. An art project to finish (um, start) and a bottle of wine to drink. I like biting off more than I can chew.
