It's getting cold here so that the mist that settles in the morning never really clears up - it makes everything look surreal. And it's been snowing yellow leaves. They look like butterflies or something.
My roomate's pseudo-boyfriend hates butterflies. Who hates butterflies? Awesome.
It's cool when people's little things coincide with yours. (no, I don't hate butterflies, but) I've been realizing that Sam and I have a few of the same neuoses. Like, we cut the slimy yukky part out of tomatoes before we eat them. Or only like to eat candy that is red so it doesn't make your lips turn blue or green or purple. What a pair of weirdos.
My friend Justin called me this morning. He is my crazy photographer/musician friend who I camp counseled with. If you ever feel like dying of laughter, go to Justin's Journal. He has this way of making ordinary things really really funny and when I talk with him I get funny too. It's nice to have guy friends who you can just talk to without any weird tension or ulterior motives.
I saw this presentation by labor organizers from Mexico and El Salvador today, about the (terrible, destructive) effects of NAFTA and this new proposed version of it for central america. Ever since the election I've been thinking seriously about what I can do to make the world better in the wake of the (horrible, apocalyptic) outcome of the election. Its hard when you're 18 to put concrete action next to your ideals.
The point is I'm thinking of switching majors from psychology to anthro or religion and studying abroad or maybe just traveling instead. Like, photographing and documenting what I see. College and even America itself is truly confined to four walls and this presentation made me think that i need to get out of them and learn about how to do things, how they truly are, and not just 'about' vague literary concepts.

Also, Anthro is way harder than Psych. I say do go for it. You'll respect yourself way more in 3.5 years, and also actually have an education (unlike yours truly, who graduated with just about the least diverse class load possible. )
