how can good and evil be so incredibly subjective and amorphous and vague when all we're that there's moral certainty our whole western lives? i don't get it. errol morris' Fog of War and LOTR Return of the King, two very different but also similar films, have me feeling that i have no compass, that there is no magnetic field of morality, that it's all a lie, that it's only just chaos theory and our morality is invented simply because the horror of the alternative is too much for our brains to handle at this point in evolution. yeah, it's been that kind of day, week, month. winter. shit.
