I'm sick so I thought I'd get started writind something on Suicide girls. But then you go blank. A Brandy hot toddy and lemon normally sorts things out...ahhhhh! The best thing about being sick is getting to catch up on all those readings and music I've been meaning to envelop myself in. Get the new Uncut with a huge profile on Robert Smith and the Cure, fascinating man and incredible insight into his music and how it relates to the world. Brilliant. He makes some intersting comments about self-awareness without the sense of self whe he was recording 'Pornography'. The acid probably didn't help. Must go and buy entire cure backcatalogue, I've got 'Jumping Someone Elses Train' going thru my head now. I remember some friends at school listening to 'Three Imaginary Boys' on their yellow walkman at school while we were getting freaked out by 'Blood Sugar Sex Magic'.
I just got the new Rodney P album, holy shit! That man is a genius, i dunno what it is but UK hip-hop hits home with me. The blend of dancehall and garage just kicks everytime; Look at Dizzee Rascal and Skinnyman for amazing examples of that! And that match-up of Rodney P and Freq Nasty just shakes the roof down!
