My parents tried to raise me catholic as well, but I lost my faith sometime when I was in my early teens. I had always struggled with the history of the institution itself, and I was not really into the whole faith part of it anyway.

As time went by, I actually came to think of religion as harmful, but I do my best not to rattle cages about it, so I understand your decision to compromise in the name of family harmony. I do think it is fair to tell him what you think, since he'll be hearing the other stuff anyway.
