Alright you asked for it, ye shall get it.
FRIDAY
Friday night was spent trying to find scandaleuxs house. Really roads shouldnt have so many twists and turns and turn offs. Confusing isnt the right word to describe the area she lives in.
But anyways, my girlfriend and I arrived to a scant group of people chillin out watching Team America. Despite my issues with marionettes, I actually enjoyed what I saw of the movie.
Around 10:30, a LARGE group of people arrived, including Fenchurch and MLE. Fenny gave me a big hug when she saw me and then I kinda lost her in the small room that was now filled with people.
It was about twenty minutes that the large group stuck around and then they went off to a club. The girlfriend and I stuck around and waited with Scandaleux for Cereal_Killer, who showed up around 12:30 maybe half an hour after Lucy and freakpirate arrived.
Id say it was close to 2 am before we left and let CK and the rest get some much needed sleep.
SATURDAY
My nerves were really being a bitch on Saturday. You know how people claim to have nerves of steel? Yeah I have nerves of discombobulated Jello. And apparently Jello isnt a recognized word in Word. Weird.
Anyways sushi was cool. Got to the place a bit early to find Swindy and Clidna sitting next door at the Pub drinking some brewskis and eating nachos. While talking with them, we met a dapper dude that goes by the name Ahriman. Alas, I barely talked to the dapper man the rest of the night, but he did seem to be pretty down to earth and easy going.
Sushi went well other than way more people showing up than RSVPd but that didnt turn out to be a problem afterall.
After sushi, a few select people went to the venue to get it all decorated. We got everything set up and soon enough, the place was starting to fill up with SG members.
I had organized all the door prizes and one of the cool ones that we got was 500 SG stickers. Instead of handing that out as one prize, I divvied them up so that everyone in attendance got two stickers and then I had about 100 left over to hand out throughout the night. Despite being shy as hell, I ended up saying hello to pretty much everyone that was there and handing them stickers.
Speaking of being shy as hell I totally proved how much of an awkward clumsy shy fuck I really can be. I had told MLE a few days ago that I was looking forward to meeting her, but that I was extremely shy around pretty girls and would prolly just hug her and then run away.
Well it ended up happening. I saw her, walked up, said hello, gave her a hug and then turned to run and mashed my arm against hers while turning and somehow ripped her drink out of her hand and sent it crashing to the floor, covering her shoes with cranberry and vodka. I believe I turned about as red as the cranberry juice.
So I ended up buying her another drink, to which she kissed me on the cheek and I then ran away without knocking anything else over. And although I wanted to talk more with her, I stayed the hell away from her in fears of doing anything worse. I was running out of money by that point and couldnt afford to knock over another drink.
Other highlights of the night included:
* Meeting Aeres. Near the start of the night I noticed this really cute girl in a gold coloured corset and being the stereotypical guy, I thought to myself, YAY BOOBIES!! But being the shy asshat I am, as well as being stone sober, I kept my distance from her. Remember from before I am freaking shy when it comes to cute girls. Anyways some time during the night, we got talking and as it turned out, she used to be on my friends list!
Now this confused the hell out of me, cause I knew there had never been a girl named Aeres on my list. My confusion ran away when she told me that she used to be Cael which, get this, USED TO BE ON MY FRIENDS LIST!! I had been wondering for months what had happened to Cael, so it was a nice surprise to know it was her. Lo and behold, Aeres happens to be on my friends list now. LOL. Im glad I met her she is a really cool chick that seems to have a really decent head on her shoulders.
* Saving Aeres from Mister Drunken Blue Shirt. Swindy was actually the first to walk over and try saving her. I was impressed with how well Swindy dealt with the few drunken guys that came over and started pestering people. Proved yet again how great of a guy he is. But anyways Mister Blue Shirt was actually pretty funny. He most definitely wanted/needing to be in the picture I was taking with Aeres, and the resulting faces that her and I have are freaking classic.
* Watching some guy steal someones drink from the patio and then run down the street with it in his outstretched arm being followed by two security guys and a few random people. Five minutes later, the security walked back with the drink stealer not far behind. Two minutes later, the dude was running down the street with another drink stolen from another random person. It was amusing to watch as it was not my drinks being stolen.
* Handing out the door prizes was kinda interesting. SteveNeurotic donated 30-ish punk CDs and a whackload of stickers. Elijah donated a bottle of Dom Perignon (sp?) and 2Low donated an SG book. (There were other items donated it is these three though that made me laugh).
The first draw I did was for a CD with some stickers. There were going to be five winners. Ironically, the first persons name I drew was STEVENEUROTIC!! Oddly, he didnt want the CD that he donated.
The bottle of Dom went to crap I forget who, but I am 99% sure it was someone that came up with Elijah.
And the book that 2Low was talked into donating (he had said he would bring one that all the SGs could sign and then have it raffled off, but he didnt have a chance to go to the bookstore, so despite wanting to get his copy signed by all the SGs in attendance, he said he would donate his personal copy and then buy a new one later) was won by 2LOW!! So his wish came true after all and he didnt have to shell out for another book.
* Watching everyone have their turn taking naughty pictures with the giant Elmo doll.
* Sitting half asleep in some all night restaurant eating a really greasy corned beef sandwich, but not giving a fuck cause I was so tired and had such a great night and was still with some of the people that had made the night so amazing in the first place.
All in all it was a great fucking night. I met some really wonderful people and I really wish that I would have conversed more, but there were some many people there that I wanted to talk to, I ended up not really talking with any one person for too long of a time I ended up being more of a hummingbird, fluttering all over the place for short periods of time.
I so totally know there is stuff I am missing that I wanted to talk about grr. But really the weekend was a huge success.
In fact, despite all the petty bullshit that I talked about in the weeks before Prom, I was told one thing during the night that made it ALL worthwhile to me and made me determined to be a part of making an even bigger and better PROM next year.
So mark my words those that didnt want Toronto Prom to happen blow it our event fucking rocked and everyone left happy. To all those that went to Prom this year and had fun just wait until next year if things play out the way I think they might it is gonna be a night that people will be totally pissed they missed.
Here are some of my favourite pictures from the night more can be found (in the place that I havent figured out yet, but if you come back in a few hours, youll prolly see some link here instead of this sentence.)
And an add on note - please join my in a quick funeral for my glass bowl I just broke. It served me many a years of good times and it just decided that it didn't want to obey my hand any more and took a leap of death towards the basement floor. Bowl ... how I loved you so.
