Had a Halloween party to go to tonight. Backed out of it at the last minute 'cause I just wasn't feeling it. It IS November after all. Who holds a Halloween costume party in November? There's just something fundamentally wrong with that, I think. That and I had one last night. Just costumed-out, I guess.
Decided to stay in for the night, partly because I'm just not feeling right from the night before and partly because I was just feeling anti-social tonight.
Instead I've had a few whiskey mixers to get my head right from yesterday, watched some of that Texas/Texas Tech college football game (my interest is waning as my alcohol intake increases) and decided to fire up the old record player while engaging in both of the aforementioned activities.
Playlist included:
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (in its entirety)
80's Bo Diddley
various songs from Sam Cooke's Best of
Stevie Wonder - Side A of Greatest Hits Vol 2 (includes "Signed, Sealed, Delivered")
Rod Stewart - "You Wear it Well"
Janis Joplin - "Piece of my Heart"
The Band - Rock of Ages ("The Weight," "The Shape I'm In," & "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down")
The Decemberists - Her Majesty ("Billy Liar" straight into "Los Angeles, I'm Yours")
Now I think I'm gonna play some FIFA 09 until SNL comes on. May or may not watch that. We'll have to see how much I get into the game for the time being. But Ben Affleck's presence as host is not exactly dragging me toward the television.
