Oh boy, what a wonderful weekend that came to a close far too quickly. The happy parts were very happy, the tired parts were also very tired, and the best parts are continuing through today. Sometimes the best compliments come when you least expect them.
Went out on Friday night after a little bit of Anime appreciation night with my buddy Sully. We finished watching the first disc of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Anyone who watches these in English the first time is a fool. No offense, but any foreign film should be watched in its original language with subtitles. Particularly because English tends to lack the expression of other languages as an overdub. Japanese is especially great. Such intensity. Anyways, after that, I got a call from my friend Tim, so I ended up going out to Great Scott's to see a band doing covers of Morissey whilst drinking. The band was impressively tight, more than I had hoped for, but the vocalist - apparently the DJ for that night, so it was his choice to sing, which was a foolish choice - just sucked. He mumbled through every word of every song, while hitting pitches that exist only in other countries that use 1/8 note pitches, and even then, he was still off. Horrible vocals which destroyed the great sound the band had. Lucky for them, most of the audience were largely into Morissey, so it didn't matter enough to them. Some people though agreed with me.
Saturday I hung out at home for the most part. Tired and burned out from not getting home and going to sleep till around 4am. But in the evening, I got a call from friends who decided to come over. We hung out and shared a big bottle of Allagash 4, and then we picked a movie to watch, but decided to go over to one of the guy's houses to watch because his TV is much better than mine. We did so, and then decided to watch a different movie because of the poor quality of the film (Raise the Red Lantern). On Sunday my buddy Jim and I tried watching the movie at my place, but we were so tired of sitting through it that we shut it off. It was just boring and slow. You got the jist of what was happening, and what would happen, but after sitting and watching it for so long, you just didn't care to see it anymore. I'm sure many people out there have watched it and enjoyed it. Good for them.
Then I did some cleaning around the house on Sunday night and enjoyed a bottle of Allagash Victory Ale, which was better than I had expected. Sometime this week though, I'm going to drink the bottle of Deus that I picked up. The finest of Belgians.
Not much else to say. Just a good weekend, and greater things are brewing as I write. Damn it feels good to be me today.
