again, another awesome week.
decided i wanted to volunteer at ::
for those that aren't familar. luminato is described as ...
Luminato embraces artistic collaboration in marvellously unique ways, crossing boundaries to create unforgettable moments by bringing together artists across cultures and genres. The festival encourages local, Canadian, and international artists to work together in discovering unprecedented creative expressions.
they were looking for special event people.
so i applied but then found out they weren't looking for any more people.
i decided to chance it, and send my resume to the volunteer coordinator of luminato and recieved back a reply within minutes.
Hi Amanda,
Very impressed with your resumes. Many names you mentioned on your resume were familiar to me. Although we had stopped pulling names for this position, I have pulled your resume for consideration. I wll be in contact with potential Special Events candidates late March.
Thanks for your interest, look forward to meeting you.

so i did a focus group the other night on smoking.
it was actually pretty interesting.
i think they are going to be re-doing the warning labels on cigarette packages and all that jazz.
so we were asked our opinions on the new labels - what was effective, what was not effective, etc.
the focus group was not even 2 hrs long and i made $80.
score!

WOW!
So I've called in numerous times (I can't even begin to think of the amount of times) re: the shitty service of the Christie bus.
I'm on Adam Giambrone's Facebook and everyone was praising him for the new "faster" service on the Dufferin bus route and Queen streetcar route.
While I think the new updates to services are obviously very much needed - I left a message for him on his Facebook wall saying:
"It's great how everyone is enjoying their new service, with more buses and more efficient service. It would be wonderful if someone at the TTC would listen to the residents who take the 126 Christie bus each and everyday, to atleast try and get that bus to just RUN ON TIME. I don't understand how the service can be so rotten when the route is so short. With buses sometimes not even showing up. Considering this is the only bus route we have and with the limited service we get, it would be nice if it could just run on time.
I didn't actually think anything of it.
But I got an email from Mr. Giambrone today (well, Facebook message I should said) asking me to detail my problems with the Christie route and email it directly to HIM.
WOOHOO!
Maybe we'll get something fixed for once.

so i went to rotate this on my lunch the other day ...
and afterwards jenn and i decided to walk through queen west where the fire happened.
it's just fucking sad and really insane.
the pictures really don't do it any justice till you see it all up close.
the damage that is done to those buildings and just how much destruction there is.
poor queen west.
i'm going to helping with a queen west fundraiser that's happening shortly taking place at revival.
when i get more details, i will let you all know.
honestly, it is the LEAST that i can do.
that neighborhood means so much to me.
even tho i didn't live there - it's a part of history and so much a part of my growing up.
