when i was in high school, i had an amazing guidance counsellor. she managed to keep a straight face through all of my tears and drama and could always differentiate between teen angst and real issues. years later, i've somehow managed to forget the two most important things she said to me:
"you care so much. under that facade, you are a girl who is so loyal and so devoted to her friends, it's as though you don't know how to treat them any differently."
"you act like you don't deserve the good things that happen to you. you're wrong. what you don't deserve if friends who do not care for you even half as much as you care for them."
i have been ignoring her advice for too many years.

I loved the advice your counselor gave you.. I like the second one the best though! So what are going to school for?
