Weekend Update:
Drove to Kalamazoo Friday for a post-holiday/housewarming party at Kenn and Kae's. Had a blast. James showed up. We haven't seen him in two years, so much hugging and shrieking, "OH MY GOD YOU'RE HERE!" occurred. Got my brakes fixed. Stayed the entire weekend. Was reminded why they are my second family.
As I was leaving today, I said, "I have to go see the other family now."
So I drove to Livonia since my parents were in town for the Auto Show. We had dinner with my aunt, uncle, cousins, their wives, and the kids. Those twins are getting huge (they just turned two). They're the first children born to my generation, so they're getting extra attention.
The men retreated to Steve's house to play Texas Hold 'Em and watch the Chicago Bears game while us ladies stayed at my aunt and uncle's and watched "Cold Case" and "Desperate Housewives" while keeping the twins out of pretty much everything. It was the typical [Polish-surname-here] family gathering -- lots of talking, lots of laughter, lots of food, lots of insistence that, no, I didn't not need anything else to eat, lots of mothering, and lots of love.
The best part? (Well, besides seeing my family and my friend-family this weekend).
I GOT MY LAPTOP!!! I came home and found it on my bed. EEEEE!!! I can't wait to start using it.
(For those curious, it's a 12" iBook.)
