Figured I would take a minute to blog. I'm working Monday through Saturday for the next three plus weeks and don't foresee a whole lot of SG time.
I won't even have time to prepare for Thanksgiving
I'll have someone else do the shopping and will spend the holiday off cooking for the entire family. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Unlike Christmas I have more time to focus on the food. I brine the turkey for at least 24 hours before cooking. Brining the turkey makes it more succulent, more tender and well-seasoned throughout. Then there's the two kinds of homemade stuffing, one French and one Portuguese ( I grew up in a town where half the population is Portuguese, so I do cook a lot of Portuguese food). Smashed Yukon gold potatoes and carrots cooked in butter and garlic. I'll actually be baking less this year. They'll be yummy rolls with honey butter and two pumpkin cheesecakes. This still doesn't count the snacks I put out to keep people out of the kitchen. Lot's of pickles, olives, pickled veggies, fresh veggies, celery with cream cheese, a cheese and meat platter..mmm prosciutto. Jeeze, I need to stop..I'm making myself hungry! Like I said, it's my absolute favorite holiday. I put my all into making everyone enjoy it as much as I do!
Anyway, between work, the holidays and house hunting I'm a very busy girl.
What are your plans for the next few weeks? Any holiday/family traditions you'd like to share?
