My record player is stuck, but I can't be bothered to change it, so I'm listening to the same couple of seconds of Satirway to Heaven over and over again. It's doing my nut in...
I saw my doctor today so I'm sarting anti-depressants tomorrow, which is a bit scary, but if they work then I can handle the fear, and I'll know on Monday when my psichiatrist appointment is, so woooohoooooo.
Um.
My producer has greenlit my first feature, so we're raising some money for that and I'm writing the basic outline. It's not going to have a script as such, it'll be predominantly improvised around a selection of given scenes. I've been trying to get a film off the ground for ages but I haven't been in the right frame of mind and all my scripts are unfinished, or even unstarted... so I just thought I'd make something which required little or no writing, I'll use my friends as cast and crew, keep it all really loose, so small crew, something irreverent and funny with a loose plot but almost sketch-like, and then some meatier stuff towards the end. It's basically going to be a slice-of-life film about my flatmates and our weird little lives, but all exaggerated a bit and slightly stylised/fictionalised. I want to add some kind of fantastical element as well because I love when genres clash, like in Eternal Sunshine for example. So I'm working on that. We're filming in April. Basically going to just have a laugh for a week or two and make something fun, and potentially good, out of it. Think Clerks meets Coffee and Cigarettes meets How To Be.
Win.
I'm off to London now, my flatmate's band has a gig at Industry in Shorditch if anyone local fancies it. They're called ToTheMoonAlice. Fun stuff.
6 of my friends are out in Thailand for ages. Hastings feels really empty.
Uh... that's the end.
Sorry, not a particularly inspired blog, but I have to change this bloody record!!!!!
Much love. xxxx
