Today was an important day for the world. I stayed up late to watch the election and I'm so happy with the result! I know we'll have to wait and see what the real effect is, but for now I'm completely chuffed. An American friend of mine said it best when he said he's not going to be embarassed when people ask where he's from (he'd taken to lying and saying he's from Canada!) Anyway, thumbs up for Obama. I just wish I'd been allowed to vote myself!



In other news, though slightly less earth-shattering (or not?) I had my hair cut!



I haven't had it shorter than shoulder-length for over 3 years, so it's pretty mental.

Here's a pic of our Bonfire night fire which they built on the seafront. It was immense. They had a 30 foot high pile of wood, old furniture, palettes and stuff. Big fire! I took this picture because after some of the wood collapsed, for a little while there was a massive piece still up which was in the shape of the cross, burning away, you can just make it out. You couldn't have planned it better! It was one of those moments where everyone was like shit, this is awkward because there were obviously people there who were completely ignoring the similarity. I was standing next to my friends step-father who's a preacher, so... The best bit was when a little girl went up to her gran and said really innocently but excitedly "Look it's like Jesus's cross" and the gran just shoed her away and said "no, it doesn't", but I felt like she responded a little too quickly! It's not the best picture but you can make it out.
