ADAM'S BLOG
CHAPTER#2:
"The unlikely return of me"
(Where I finally come back to the land of SG blogging)
It has literally been months.
I'm not really sure why I'm even on here because I never seem to blog or interact with anyone else's blogs, but I do love the idea of it. Well I guess more effort is the key. Now that the Summer's over, work will be less busy (not that it's physically possible for it go get more b usy) so I'll have more ofa chance.
So where to start... It's been quite a time, the last few months, and I won't bang on about it but I've been working harder than I ever have in my life. Between the beginning of July and last weekend I didn't have a single day off, not even weekends, apart from a week in Ireland. Ireland was amazing. I went over for my friends' (who happen to be my bosses) wedding which was spectacular. I'm still trying to rustle up some money to develop photos but rest assured you'll see them here first. And I suppose belated Ireand stories can wait until then.
After I got back, that week was my 21st birthday, which was cool, even though I was awake all the previous night editing until 11am before I could leave. When I left, I went back to my parents house in Tunbridge Wells for family stuff then got progresively more and more wasted as the night went on. I was driven back and put into bed by my Mum and my sister. Apparently. I don't remember it.
And then from the 20th to the 31st I was on the set of our latest feature film - which was an extremely bittersweet experience. Part of me genuinely hated it. I was the 1st Assistant Director, which meant I was responsible for the impossible feature-film-in-ten-days schedule staying on target as well as being responsible for all teh production assistants etc, and I just couldn't handle it. In fairness, the circumstances were unusual to say the least. We were camping the woods for the whole time, in the pissing rain then the sweltering sunshine doing night shoots, starting at about 7pm finishing about 7am and I was ill. But now the bad memories are fading away and I'm remembering all the good bits, and there were some great moments; it was a step or two up from 'We've Got The Toaster' meaning we had some great equipmwnt to play around with, and we had a stunt man one day setting himself on fire, stuff like that. And it's going to be a fantastic film. It's called 'Eden Burning' - it's a teen psychological horror, a modern retelling of 'Paradise Lost'. I'm going to be editing the film as well, so I'm hoping I can pull back some self-esteem by doing that well. I'm capturing the footage to the edit suite this very minute and I'll start to edit proper on Monday. I'll get some screen grabs and put some up here. I'm aiming for a rough cut by the 9th of October, which is soon, but we are entering into Slamdance Film Festival - and we've already booked our flights and accommodation for it so I really hope it gets selected! Anyway, more on that as it happens.
And now I'm just getting over the maddest Summer of my life! I had a fever for nearly a week after the film finished, and the whole experience completely knocked me for six, so I won't be forgetting it in a hurry! I suppose if I'm not dead, I'm stronger...
Sorry no photos to liven things up. I will get loads, and post loads. Asap.
Last night I saw 'Withnail and I' on the big screen!! It played at Tunbridge Wells Odeon for one night only, and my best friend is a manager there, so I got in for free! Then we went back to hers and we played lots of Tomb Raider Anniversary. I can't actually think of a better way to spend a day off!!
And I want to learn Latin. Any ideas how? I assume there's a book somewhere.
On that note,
I'm back, thank you for having me.
Peace and Love to you all.
