CHAPTER #1:
"The woes of me"
(Me moaning and all that)
Please put up with this. I'll whinge for a bit then I'm sure there'll be some kind of "Oh well, it's all good" positive ending note...
I think I might be having literally one of the worst days in the history of bad days.
I fucked up big time at work a couple of days ago, and I've had to sort out technical problems aplenty. It was my fault, so fair cop (though I do still like to partially blame COMPUTERS!), but i worked a 22 hour shift yesterday, finishing at 6.30 in the AM, walked home, went to sleep and got a phone call at 9 saying that there were still problems and I should get myself down to the studio sharpish (after only 2 1/2 hours sleep and this being on my day off - the first in ages and the last for ages). And I'm still here sorting shit out 11 hours later. I feel like shit and I've been staring at 5 different computer screens all day, who are all being cunts and working rediculously slowly. To spite me, I'm sure.
I used to love saying things like "Oh, the things I do to work in the film industry" with a nonchalent sweeping back of my hair, but I think it's the sort of thing you say when you're not actually doing those things that you do. Now I'm doing these things I do, I don't want to be doing them!
Anything but!
I planned to write a hefty chunk of my film today which has obviously not gotten done and god knows when it will now. I have 3 editing deadlines looming over the next couple of weeks, two or three more camera jobs, and loads of other shizzle. Plus I still need to sort loads of shit out from moving down here like changing doctors and what not, I'm running out of money, I have 4 of my best friends' birthdays coming up but won't get to party like it's '99 ~or any other year for that matter~ and I haven't had more than 6 hours sleep a night for over a fortnight.
Struggling to reach the promised "it's all good sentiment" so I'll try to just list some positives.
> Working on a 35mm commercial for Channel 4 next week starring Ewen Macintosh (Keith from the office!)
> I'm hopefully going to be doing the first of some directing work for the company not too far off
> Martin Grech's new stuff up on his MySpace (www.myspace.com/martingrechofficial)
> Managed to bargain staying late here tonight with being allowed a bit of a lie in tomorrow
> Feeling really quite creative at the moment (though not finding the time neccessary to act on it very easily!)
> I saw the Lion King stage play. Oh my god. Not even worth trying to word it. It's just fantastic. And I don't even like the film all that much, so if you do, why haven't you seen it?!
Yeah I guess it could all be worse.
Has anyone heard of a film called 'Four Eyed Monsters'? They've released their film and they've used a really fascinating and innovative distribution model which I think will really revolutionise low budget filmmaking if it takes off - everyone check it out and support them on their website which is www.foureyedmonsters.com. If you follow a certain link and sign up to a website who are supporting them they'll get a dollar per person up to $100,000 meaning they can make a big old dent in their credit card debt!
Anyway I'd best be off to see to some more problems...!
I'd been saving some MDMA for this weekend, but I'll have to wait a while to get fucked off my face.
If you read this whole thing, thank you. And well done. Woohoo.
Love and peace to all of you.
=)

architectonic:
Hope it all starts to go better for you! I'm jealous of you getting to see the Lion King play, I've wanted to see it for ages but never quite had the chance.

Did you get all the production problems worked out? I'm gonna check out the foureyedmonsters. Have a good weekend. -Dreu
