"Kiddo, you made my night..Scratch that, you made my week"
You may hate sports, but maybe you love family..
As a kid my dad was my best friend. Some of the earliest pics of me were in Eagles,Flyers, or Phillies gear sitting with my dad on the couch watching games. We went to games as a family. My mom made dinners on Sundays that were not served until the Eagles were done playing. My mom turns the ringer off the phone during hockey games.
Before I moved out here, I was with my folks..I saw the beginning of baseball season mesh with the end of hockey, much as baseball and hockey are doing in reverse now.
My dad and I fought as I aged. He changed. He became a hateful man, and he hurt my mom and I. But when it came to sports, it was still dad and I on the couch, overtimes, extra innings, rain delays..etc. Me and dad.
Tonight the Phillies won, moving on to the World Series. My pop raised me on them. My dad told me in the Spring, he told me.."this season is going to be special, kiddo..just watch it"
I moved 3000 miles away, I watched every game I could. I watched the Red Sox less, as I got home sick more. Tonight when they won, they played Harry Kalas calling the last out. I sat on my knees sobbing three parts joy, and one part daddy's little girl. He was the first and only person I called.
In the end, no matter what, I am so, so happy tonight. I was raised right. My parents did good. My little brother and I are blessed. I have grown closer to my dad, yet again, through sports.
World Series bound!!

What days are you going to be up here? If you have a specific day you're going to be meeting up with Zarth and Kindle, let me know. I'll taike a night off work or get a babysitter.
Go Phils! Go not-Red Sox!
