OK,
So I got more details on the condition of my nephew. His name is Aiden, by the way. So what happened is that when he was in the womb, one of his pulmonary valves did not open. The result of this is that one half of his heart is underdeveloped. So the first thing they had to do was ensure that everything was connected properly, and then they had to open up the valve, and now they are keeping him in the hospital while that portion of his heart gets stronger.
There is also something going on with another valve in his heart. I forget what it is called, but basically it is what the heart uses while the baby is still in the womb. Naturally, once the pulmonary valve begins to pump, then that other valve closes up. Since Aiden's pulmonary valve never openend, then that other one stayed open. The doctors are a little worried that it might not close as it is supposed to, because it's been opened longer than it should have.
Nonetheles, so far, they are very confident that they can fix all the issues. They just don't know how long he is going to be in the hospital. I am going to go visit him tomorrow afternoon.
And that is all for now.
Laters.
