Oh Man,
What a crazy series of weekends I have had. Angie has been taking up a lot of my time lately, so I haven't been able to do a lot of things that I really need to do. I haven't done any yardwork since I got back from Vegas and the weeds are starting to get out of control thanks to all the rain we've had recently. I don't even rememeber when I was in chat last. I feel like I am negelcting my friends. And my second family that lives across the street.
I've got almost all my holiday shopping done, but I still have some commitments I have to keep. I'm taking Angela to meet one of my best friends tomorrow. Then on Tuesday, we are going to go watch the Nutcracker at the Phoenix Symphony Hall. I have New Year's Eve scheduled off, so we will be spending that day together too. We just haven't decided exactly what we are going to do. She did ask me a few days ago, what I was planning to wear so she could buy a dress to match. I really did not plan to do anything so formal that we would need matching outfits.
We went out to watch "The Day the Earth Stood Still" last weekend after watching the original at home on DVD. I think the remake is a very good tribute to the original film. They changed several things, of course, but kept the important ones. It was as if they just modernized it. I think that it's been getting bad reviews because it doesn't really stand up on it's own. It's not very emotional and there isn't much action in it. I am sure they could have added a whole lot of other stuff to it, in order to fascinate 21st century audiences. But then that would have changed the plot and concept of the film way too much. So I think for people who liked the original, this one is worth watching. But I would not make it a "Movie-Theater" film, because it doesn't really need a big screen and loud speakers to be enjoyable. If you never saw the original and it doens't interest you, then you should probably skip the remake. That's my little review!
I am hoping that after the holidays I will be able to make more time for myself. I cherish every moment that I spend with Angela. She's beginning to teach me to live again. It's just that I have things that need to get done. Things that take a lot of time. I haven't been able to make it to the gym in three weeks and it's starting to show. The Car needs work, the Yard needs work and not to mention that going out every weekend is beginning to take quite a toll on my finances. So.. you know.. we'll take things one day at a time and see how things work out.
Laterz!
