Hello again Kats and Kittens!
I hope everybody had a fun and safe and memorable new year's eve celebration. My little adventure was definitely fun. Can't speak for the other two. I did, however, make it home alive without hurting anyone else, I think. So I guess things turned out well in the end.
Alright now. Let me see if I can remember the events that transpired last night/this morning. Everything is a little hazy. But I think that if I wait any longer, it'll get even hazier.
Let me start by recapping on my previous posts. My original plan was to gather up the guys and meet up with Kelly and her crew at the Scottsdale Block Party. However, Craig didn't have money so he couldn't go. Vinnie had to work. And Jovan had already made plans to go to Tempe with some other people. Furthermore, Kelly mentioned to me that her friends were kinda hoping to make this a Girls Only event. She, nonetheless, urged me to try to make it at least for a little while.
Well. I spent the 31st running errands and doing chores and by 6 pm I was feeling kinda drowsy. Compounded with the knowledge that I was going to be flying solo that night, I made the decision to stay home. So I sent out pages to those who were expecting me to be out (yeah I call them pages, shut up and like it!). And curled up in bed to sleep.
As 7 o'clock approached, I found myself unable to sleep in spite of everything. In addition, Jovan paged me back and tells me that his buddies bailed on him and now he has no one to go out with. So at the last minute, I changed my mind, got showered up, shaved my balls and jumped in the car.
I called Jovan and said, "Alright Man, I'll meet you in Scottsdale"
To which he replied, "Let's roll, Fucker!"
I was the first to arrive. I think it was sometime around 9. Maybe 9:15. I paged Kelly to let her know I had decided to go afterall. I knew she wasn't planning to be there until about 10:15, so I asked her to call me when she got there. Jovan showed up at about 9:30 and so the two of us proceeded to barhop up and down the block.
In retrospect, I realize that this was my great mistake. I am usually very careful of how much and how fast I drink when I am out and about. I can keep myself under control most of the time. But it's kinda hard to stick to my disciplines when Jovan is around. The man loves to drink, but he hates to drink alone. So he is all about, buying drinks for everybody and doing shots together and all that other wild stuff. Sure enough, it's not long before I start getting a little tipsy.
Sometime around... 10:30, 10:45 maybe... Kelly gives me a call because she can't find the place. I tried to give her the best directions I could. But By this time I am brightly lit up and it was loud and I don't even know if she could hear me, much less understand me. I really hope that the directions I gave her were not too terrible. Coincidentally, that is the last I have heard of Kelly to this DAY!
OK! Back to Jovan and I. I guess, there must have been some sort of unspoken contract drafted between the two of us. An agreement that required us to take a shot and buy a drink at each of the clubs that were a part of the block party. Why else would we have drank so much so fast if it wasn't because we were on a mission!? I estimate that it must have been sometime around 11:15 that I went OOC. For those of you who are not in the Manufacturing field, OOC stands for Out Of Control. When speaking about myself, it meant that I could not walk straight, I could hardly hear anything, I couldn't see where I was going and I most likely mumbled everything I said like a retard or a zombie. So, if you got any text messages or phone calls from me at any time after 11 pm on december 31st, please accept my sincerest apologies.
Jovan can handle his liquor far better than I. And I know that I can trust him to keep me from hurting myself too much. And all of this would be great had I not lost him. You see, at some point while we were listening to Metalhead play on stage and waiting for the countdown, I felt the need to visit the necessaries. But when I came out, Jo had disappeared. I was in no condition to find my own ass with both hands, much less someone else's. So I end up hobbling around old town scottsdale for the next couple of hours trying to find my car so that I could take a nap and maybe sober up a bit. The countdown came and went and I dont even remember where I was or what I was doing. I think I paged and called a few people while I was doing this. I remember laying down on the sidewalk talking to my friend Rini on the phone and wishing her a happy new year.
At one point, I found myself standing in line at a little pizza place. Don't ask me how or why this happened. I don't remember being hungry. I was just in line for pizza. So.. when my turn came up, I ordered a slice or meatlover's and a bottle of water. And then, I made my way outside and sat down at one of the patio tables. I remember that there was a really nice lady who invited me to sit there with her. For some reason or another, there was a guy standing next to the table who had a problem with that. But she shut him up and he went away. She was also kind enough to help get my water bottle opened.
Well, I am sitting there, eating my pizza and drinking my water. I'm keeping to myself, at least I think I was. And suddenly there was this great commotion. A lot of people running. I didn't pay much mind to it, though. Because I had pizza and I was happy. But shortly thereafter, the place swarmed with cops. I was perfectly ready to ignore this also, until a police officer leaned over to me and said, "You need to leave, you need to get out of here NOW!'
Fortunately, I still had enough control of my senses to follow directions. So I stood up and started walking. After finishing my Pizza. But then, I found myself trapped. You see, I was still too drunk to know where I was or where I was going. And to make things more difficult, the police were cordoning off everything. I didn't know where to go. So I just stood there. While I was trying to get my bearings, I overheard a couple of girls who were standing near me, talking about a shooting. So I approached them and asked about it. They explained that someone had gotten shot at club NEXT which is just around the corner from the pizza place I was at. Not long after that, I saw paramedics roll someone in a stretcher into the back of an ambulance. I haven't read the news yet. So I have yet to confirm all of this.
I guess I worked up the gumption to start walking again because sometime after that I was sitting on a sidewalk in a parking garage talking with a pair guys. One of them was very kind and I believe his name was Nathan. I am pretty sure someone called him that. I remember that he was gay because he was disappointed when I told him that I wasn't. Nonetheless, after talking for a bit, he decided to help me out. He had a cab that was on the way to pick him and his friends up and he offered to drop me off at my car. One of his buddies was in real bad shape and we had to carry him into the cab. I think he might have even puked in it. The driver didn't seem too distraught about it, though. I guess he sees that a lot.
They dropped me off at the garage where my car was at. They were all very worried that I was going to try to drive. I promised them that I would take a nap and drive home when I woke up. Honestly, when I got out of the cab, I wasn't even sure that I was at the right place. But I knew I was closer. I looked over to the side and noticed the ramp that I had taken to get here. So I followed that and lo and behold there was the MR. TICO Mobile. I curled up in the passenger seat and called Rini. Or maybe she called me. I don't remember. She was crying about something. I think she was just lonely. I don't remember getting off the phone with her, but obviously I did. I passed out for a little while and then the Parking Lot Security guard came over and woke me up. She was very nice, though. She helped me find a restroom and then walked me back to my car. I think the Security Guard was worried about letting me fall asleep in the garage. She was very polite but I could tell she really wanted me to leave. So I did.
I was still kinda drowsy when I drove home. I don't remember the entire drive. But I don't think I was swerving or anything because I passed a couple of police cars and they didn't seem to suspect anything. Either way, I made it home safely. Now I just have to make sure that my friends did too.
Points of Interest:
Drinks consumed - 2 shots of Jagger, 1 shot of Don Julio, 1 Vodka and Sprite, 1 whiskey and coke, 1 7 and 7.
It really doesn't look like much. But boy did it do a number on me.
I sneaked in a flask of Captain Morgan's Private Stock and never even opened it.
I got a MSG from Kelly while I was writing this. So she is OK. Still haven't heard back from Jovan.
I am really hungry right now, but everything is closed because it's New Years. I could really go for some Pizza.
