It has been made abundantly clear that knowledge of a creature's true name grants intimate knowledge of their being (see: Genesis (noticable stuff about Adam)). The metaphor of naming, and the so called magic behind it is inherent to the human condition. Names shape and confine things, making them both more and less in an instant.
