"What true patience is, is knowing that you want it and knowing that it's coming and actually enjoying the unfolding along the way. Understand that you never get it done. So you might as well be patient. You never get it done, because every time you want and receive, you also receive a new perspective from which to want. Life is a constant unfolding of new desires and then a constant alignment to those desires."
the story of my owie foot:
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
thursday night i was walking home with a good friend's daughter on my hip and a bag of goodies. it was getting dark and was not looking at the ground, i was looking for the kitty we had seen in the window earlier. next thing i knew, a big hole sprang out of the ground and twisted my foot under back and sideways. i turned and rolled so i landed on my side and trinity rolled out of my arms uninjured thank god. after sitting for a few minutes in intense pain, i figured it was only going to keep hurting and since i had left my phone at home like a dummy and could not call a ride, i was going to have to get up that steep hill between us and the house eventually. the following twenty minutes involved the most pain i've ever experienced (sometimes i think the pain freshest in your memory becomes the owrst automatically though). i limped/dragged myself home, moaning and crying out loud with every hobbled step. it must have been a pathetic sight, me sobbing along with my grovery bag and trinity following, asking where shawn was (he's the fun one!) and for me to carry her. i made it to my couch and the freakshow continued for a good twenty minutes as i writhed and moaned in agony and trin took care of me (she unloaded all the groceries onto the counter, brought me a cup of water, and then we settled in for some cookies. not bad for a not-yet-3-year-old nurse, eh?
. finally i went into shock and stopped freaking out.
ever since, it's been bed, couch, crutch to bathroom, ice, smoke, repeat... with some bad tv movies and a few outings in between.
observe:
saturday morning the swelling had gone down a TON. my foot was twice normal size. which i guess is normal for an injury, but hey. i'm a big baby when it comes to owies.
shawn is waaay tougher. he just sews himself up.
***i'll put the rest of this long post in spoilers for you also. you'll have to right click to view a bunch of these pics- sorry i can't resize them right now.***
